
A Biomedical and Mechanical Engineering Intern position

This internship provides the opportunity to contribute to the development of medical device products and components. As a Biomedical and Mechanical Engineer, you will perform testing on automated, semi-automated and manual methods. You will follow test request protocols and report through mainly written but also verbally on the results of the tests.
You will work with your Stryker team leader and college supervisor to identify a process improvement project along with project objectives, scope, success factors, milestones and evaluation metrics. This will involve providing support to Research & Development, Advanced Operations and Global Quality Operations on the development and verification testing of new and existing products.
The tasks and responsibilities may include:
- Developing and coordinating inspection and testing procedures for prototypes, components and products;
- Formulating test guidelines and procedures and recommending revisions of specifications where necessary;
- Setting up and performing routine to non-routine experiments of moderate scope which comply with FDA requirements and appropriate engineering standards;
- Extracting and processing test data/findings into both formal written and verbal reports which comply with FDA requirements and appropriate engineering standards;
- Assisting in designing, installing and maintaining process sampling systems, procedures, statistical techniques, testing mechanisms, equipment and fixtures;
- Maintaining test laboratory housekeeping standards to the highest level.

Key Requirements:- Currently completing an Irish or Northern Irish university qualification in Engineering courses including:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Biomedical Engineering
- Have very good visual acuity and demonstrate fine motor skills, as well as observe and correct minute inconsistencies;
- Must be able to analyze and correct complex testing and/or systems issues of a broad scope using independent judgment;
- Honesty and integrity; must comply with quality system, regulations, and company policies;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as basic PC skills;
- A keen interest in all things Engineering, as well as eagerness to learn and develop.
