Our Planning Department plays a critical role in ensuring that our airports operate efficiently and safely while meeting the needs of our customers.

The Senior Town Planner will work closely with our planning team to develop and implement strategies for infrastructure projects, ensuring that they align with our overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement planning strategies for infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Provide expert advice on planning risk and mitigations, ensuring that our airports operate safely and efficiently.
  • Contribute to the improvement of planning outcomes across our Infrastructure capital programme.
  • Engage with national, regional, and local policy makers to ensure that our strategic objectives are reflected in emerging planning and environmental policy.
  • Represent our interests in written and verbal submissions to ensure that emerging planning policy and legislation meets our needs.
  • Manage Planning Applications from inception to decision, including stakeholder engagement and coordination/oversight of supporting documents.
  • Oversee Airport planning safeguarding with respect to land use policies for Dublin and Cork Airports.
  • Monitor and advise the Executive Team on planning applications for developments outside the airport boundary.
  • Prepare reports on the planning function to the business.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • A third-level town planning qualification (degree or post-graduate level) accredited by either the IPI and/or RTPI.
  • 5-8+ Years of relevant experience.
  • An excellent knowledge of applicable Irish and EU planning and environmental legislation and policy.
  • In the event that a candidate has not practiced in ROI, a sound understanding of the Irish planning system, principles, and legislation must be demonstrated.
  • A demonstrable record in the area of Development Management (including site risk assessments, planning opinions, planning applications, and appeals, exemptions, and planning strategy).
  • Applicants should demonstrate experience of successfully managing large complex projects through the planning system.
  • Good experience of preparing and submitting observations to influence and inform emerging planning, environmental, and sectoral policy.
  • Applicants should have a strong record of sound judgement and decision making in complex planning areas with many variables.
