Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to fill the role of an Intellectual Disability Nurse.

  • This is a challenging yet rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about delivering high-quality care to individuals with intellectual disabilities.
  • The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • They will also possess a strong understanding of the needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities and be able to provide person-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  • Safe administration and management of medication
  • Delivering frontline support to individuals with intellectual disabilities
  • Developing and implementing health assessments, medication plans, and supporting documents
  • Ensuring that all health action plans are delivered appropriately
  • Promoting good relationships with primary healthcare services and allied health professionals
  • Communicating and liaising with the multidisciplinary team
  • Identifying supports and working in partnership with individuals, their families, and other supports
  • Supporting individuals with health appointments and following through on recommendations
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times
  • Promoting person-centered planning using key worker systems and shared goal setting
  • Supporting maximum opportunities for community involvement for people who avail of the service
  • Delivering training as advised by management
  • Assisting the Person In Charge/Operations Manager in regard to compiling and presenting reports as required
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality in relation to staff and individuals
