A key role in the delivery of short-term counselling services to medical card holders aged 18 years and over is available.

About the Service

The HSE Counselling Primary Care service provides a safe, confidential space for clients to discuss their concerns and challenges with accredited Counsellors and Therapists.

Successful applicants will work under the governance of the HSE National Counselling Service and may have an opportunity to provide trauma-informed counselling contracts to adult survivors of childhood trauma.

Requirements
  • A recognised Level 7 qualification in a human science discipline or health-related profession.
  • Plus either:
    • Hold a degree or post-graduate qualification in counselling or psychotherapy recognised by IACP or ICP.
    • Have full accredited membership with IACP or ICP.
    • Or:
      • Hold a post-graduate qualification in counselling psychology or clinical psychology recognised by PSI.
      • Commenced the registration process with PSI or fully registered with PSI's clinical or counselling psychology division.
    • Two years' relevant post-qualification experience.

    • Excellent listening and communication skills.
    • An empathetic and non-judgmental approach.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

This is a selection process role.

Applicants must be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of the counselling service and the requirements of the role.
