Trainee Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the Trainee Accountant position in our finance team.


Job Overview:

The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, maintain and reconcile the general ledger and supporting financial records, and support month-end accounts receivable process.


Main Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and supporting financial records, identifying discrepancies and resolving promptly
  • Support month-end accounts receivable process, including the generation and issuance of sales invoices
  • Conduct daily reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Process and monitor corporate expense claims, ensuring compliance and efficiency
  • Monitor cash flow and prepare daily or weekly cash reports as required
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including journals, accruals, prepayments, etc.
  • Collaborate with the wider finance and operations team to ensure financial data accuracy and consistency
  • Support external audits and respond to queries as required
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and finance systems updates and integrations

Requirements:
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
  • Actively studying or planning to study towards a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, or similar)
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • A proactive, curious mindset and eagerness to learn, with ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest in the fintech industry and technology-led finance operations
