The role of a Practice Development Coordinator encompasses the development of midwifery and nursing students on clinical placement, as well as managing the functions of the Practice Development Unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational support is required for the Director of Midwifery and Nursing on an 'as required' basis
  • Leading the Practice Development Unit involves developing strategies to improve midwifery and nursing practice
  • Collaboration with senior midwifery management team members drives forward best practice in midwifery and nursing care

Qualifications and Experience: Essential:

  • A Registered Midwife & Nurse or eligibility for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) is necessary
  • An appropriate healthcare-related Primary Degree is essential
  • A Management qualification is also required
  • A Master's level qualification in a health/related area is preferred
  • A minimum of 7 years post-registration experience, including comprehensive midwifery, nursing, and managerial experience, is necessary

Desirable:

  • Experience in teaching and assessment courses is beneficial
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and organisational skills are highly valued
  • Evidence of leadership and motivation skills is desirable
