Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Fund Accounting Specialist to join our team. As a key member of the accounting department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of fund financial statements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the production of monthly and quarterly net asset value (NAV) reports;
  • Calculating and processing capital calls, capital distributions, and statements for closed-end funds;
  • Preparing investor profit and loss allocations and fee calculations as part of monthly and quarterly NAV packages;
  • Preparing waterfall calculations;
  • Preparing portfolio and investor internal rate of return (IRR) calculations as required;
  • Performing cash, position, and market value reconciliations;
  • Escalating accounting issues and aged items to the supervisor;
  • Ensuring all positions are priced correctly;
  • Calculating and processing income and expense accruals, including trading accruals;
  • Complying with established checklists, procedures, and controls;
  • Assisting in the audit process where required;
  • Conversing and liaising with internal service departments to resolve miscellaneous fund issues;
  • Ensuring pre-agreed internal and external deadlines are met timely;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A minimum of 2 years previous experience in finance, ideally from the hedge or private equity fund industry;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • IT literacy;
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Ability to be flexible and work effectively within a team structure and independently;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Good initiative tempered with identifying when escalation is required;
  • Reliability, dependability, and commitment;
  • Taking ownership of designated tasks;
  • Acting as a role model.
