Ecological Consultant Job Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Ecological Consultant to join our team.

  • Conduct ecological surveys in accordance with best practice and seasonal constraints, including habitat, bat, bird, mammal, and aquatic assessments.
  • Prepare comprehensive ecological reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments (EIA), Appropriate Assessments (AA), and Biodiversity Chapters for EIARs.
  • Support project delivery by ensuring compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation, undertaking desktop studies, and analyzing data using GIS and ecological databases.
  • Liaise with clients, statutory agencies, and project stakeholders to provide input into mitigation design and habitat management planning.
  • Maintain high technical standards and stay up-to-date with current ecological guidance and legislation.

Requirements:

  • Degree (or higher) in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in ecological consultancy or similar role.
  • Strong field survey skills, proficiency in report writing, data interpretation, and impact assessment, as well as knowledge of Irish wildlife legislation and the Habitats Directive.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with flexibility to travel and work outdoors, sometimes outside of normal hours.
