Job Role Summary

The role of Supervising Pharmacist is crucial in providing pharmaceutical services by meeting legislative, contractual, professional, and ethical obligations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Managing the dispensing process to ensure patient safety and medication accuracy.
  • Supervising and directing pharmacy staff activities to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Monitoring and maintaining optimal pharmacy stock levels to prevent shortages.
  • Ensuring data accuracy and integrity according to established store procedures.
  • Providing expert advice on safe and appropriate medicine use to patients, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders.
  • Guiding pharmacy staff on proper medicine handling and usage practices.
  • Evaluating patients' symptoms and recommending treatment options based on their medical history and condition.
  • Building and maintaining effective relationships with patients, customers, and suppliers through excellent communication skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Registration as a Pharmacist with the Pharmaceutical Society of Ireland (with no conditions).
  • Minimum three years of post-registration experience, preferably in an Irish retail pharmacy environment.
  • Previous experience as a Supervising Pharmacist is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in community pharmacy operations.
  • Ability to form strong relationships with stakeholders and customers through clear communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask effectively.
