Job Description

The participant will receive comprehensive on-the-job training supported by a retail manager. Training will cover various aspects of retail, including stock preparation, pricing, merchandising, health and safety, customer service, and store maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet customers warmly and offer product advice.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns professionally.
  • Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and handle payments.
  • Assist with stock receiving, unpacking, and organization.
  • Maintain attractive product displays and store cleanliness.
  • Participate in inventory checks and backroom organization.
  • Support colleagues during busy periods and special events.
  • Follow health and safety protocols and report hazards.
Training and Development

Participants will undertake formal sector-recognized training, including:

  • Spar/BWG Training
  • Off Licence Regulation Training
  • Manual Handling
  • Food/Deli Preparation
  • Merchandising & Time Management
  • Customer Care & Communication Skills
  • Teamwork & Problem Solving
  • Health and Safety Skills

Informal training will focus on customer service, teamwork, and communication skills. Participants will also learn operational standards, stock management, and merchandising techniques.

Benefits

This is a training and work experience opportunity; prior experience is not required. Accredited training will be provided, and participants may complete the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module.
