Job Title: Director of Transport Operations
 Job Description:

The role of Director of Transport Operations is a senior leadership position responsible for the overall management of school transport services across the Southern Region. The incumbent will oversee regional offices, ensuring safe and efficient services, managing staff and contractors, and driving service excellence in line with Department of Education & Youth policy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the safe, timely, and efficient delivery of school transport services across Cork and Waterford.
  • Manage and support regional school transport offices and staff.
  • Oversee contractor management, compliance, and vehicle safety.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, audits, and reporting requirements are met.
  • Lead recruitment, training, and development of drivers and staff.
  • Plan, monitor, and optimise routes, resources, and budgets.
  • Engage with stakeholders, schools, contractors, and public representatives.
  • Support digital transformation and implementation of new systems.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have proven senior management experience in transport operations, strong knowledge of road passenger transport legislation and school transport policy, excellent people leadership and stakeholder management skills, and experience in procurement, contract management, and compliance.
