Job Overview

A skilled operative is required to provide a multi-skilled general operative service, assisting in civil and marine works. The successful candidate will be responsible for various repairs and maintenance works.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a multi-skilled general operative/handyperson service.
  • Assist with maintenance, repairs and new work as required.
  • Use power/hand tools and portable machinery provided.
  • Work well within a team to given deadlines.
  • Move equipment, materials and furniture including heavy lifting.
  • Provide operational services for maritime events and festivals.
  • Undertake driving duties as required.
  • Ensure Health and Safety requirements are adhered to at all times, particularly during on-site maintenance in the docks and quays environment.
Essential Criteria
  • Full UK Driving Licence for a manual car.
  • Valid CSR Certificate.
  • At least one year's experience of building maintenance repair.
  • Experience of at least one of the following trades: Joinery, Plumbing, Bricklaying, Welding, Fabricating.
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
  • An understanding of basic risk assessments.
  • Capable of: Climbing and working on rough terrain, Working on or near water, Working at heights.
Desirable Criteria
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Health and Safety Certificate.
  • Forklift Licence.
  • At least one year's experience in a marine maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge and confidence of working on or near water.
  • Knowledge of a harbour and shipping environment.
