Role Summary:

Surgical Technologists are integral members of the surgical team who facilitate high-quality patient care during procedures. This position demands a strong understanding of sterile techniques, instruments, and equipment to ensure a secure and efficient operating environment.

  • Assists in setting up the surgical suite with necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Utilizes proper aseptic practices and adheres to standard precautions.
  • Follows policy for medication and specimen handling.
  • Assists with preparing, positioning, and draping patients and participates in the surgical pause to verify correct patient and site identification.
  • Understands, anticipates, and adapts to surgeon preference and patient variables, contributing to updating preference materials.
  • Conducts sponge, needle, and instrument count.
Key Responsibilities:

Cares for resources to promote cost-effective and efficient environments for patients.

Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Maintains a minimum of one year certificate from an accredited institution; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Surgical Technologists (ST) hired after 12/29/2020 must possess one of the following:

Education and Certification: Completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program and nationally recognized certification (CST, TS-C) within 6 months of hire.

Military programs accepted.

Pre-existing Employment: Employment as a surgical technologist by this facility before 12/29/2020, or at another facility within the two years prior to 12/29/2020.

CPR – American Heart Association

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

1-3 years of Surgical Technologist experience.
