Toolmaker Job Description

Summary:

Dairymaster is seeking a skilled Toolmaker to fill the role of creating and maintaining high-quality tooling components.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, CAD data, and technical specifications to produce accurate tooling components.
  • Operating manual and CNC machines to assemble, test, and modify tools and dies to meet design requirements and tolerances.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance and repairs on existing tooling to ensure optimal performance.
  • Collaborating with design engineers and production staff to resolve tooling issues and improve tool performance.
  • Maintaining accurate records of work performed and materials used to support continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and using precision measuring instruments.
  • Skilled in machining processes including turning, milling, grinding, and fitting.
  • Familiarity with CNC programming and CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam).
  • Awareness of safety protocols and quality control measures.
  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent qualification in Toolmaking or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a toolmaking environment.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of injection molding, press tooling, or die casting tools.
  • Able to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willngness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
