Offshore Engineer Job Overview

As an experienced engineer, you will act as the technical representative for ensuring the successful delivery of offshore transmission infrastructure. You will provide engineering oversight during project development, design, construction, and commissioning phases.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the technical authority for offshore grid connection projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Provide engineering oversight during project development, design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Review and assess offshore cable system design, installation methodologies, and risk assessments.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of offshore substations, HVDC/HVAC transmission systems, and interconnectors.
  • Oversee contractor performance, ensuring adherence to technical specifications, health & safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure project alignment with national grid strategy.
  • Support feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical due diligence for offshore wind and transmission projects.
  • Participate in site visits and offshore inspections to monitor construction and commissioning activities.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Civil, or Offshore Engineering (or a related field).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred (or working towards it).
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in offshore wind, transmission, or subsea cable engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of HVDC/HVAC transmission systems, offshore substations, and interconnectors.
  • Experience with Irish & EU offshore regulations, and health & safety standards.
  • Familiarity with industry software is advantageous.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to travel offshore and to project sites as required.
