Water Process Optimisation Technical Lead
">We are seeking a Water Process Optimisation Technical Lead to support the provision of process optimisation services across water and energy efficiency.
">- Work with Local Authorities and/or 3rd party service providers to monitor and optimise the operation of the treatment plant to ensure that the quality of drinking water supplied continues to meet all statutory requirements
- Contribute to development of best practices and Standard Operating Procedures that maximise quality of output, chemical and energy efficiency; and support the adoption of processes
- Identify opportunities to optimise the Water treatment processes (including in-network quality, e.g. chlorine residuals)
- Support implementation of Water Safety Plans including the monitoring of all operational improvements identified in Water Safety Plans (water role only)
- Support process reviews at plants and identify measures required to improve effective and efficient operation (including operational improvements, energy optimisation, improved maintenance, and capital works)
- Generation and monitoring of operational sampling programme (e.g. raw, process, and treated programmes)
- Review and interpret laboratory sampling analysis results and operational performance to assess process performance and identify non-compliance causes; identify opportunities for process improvement and energy optimisation
- Develop appropriate risk mitigation/ issue resolution / change management action plans in coordination with appropriate operational teams (e.g. Regional or 3rd party service providers) to understand and address the causes of any non-compliance issues
- Provide regular progress reports to the Water Process Optimisation Manager/Lead
- Provide treatment process optimisation training and support to other areas of the business as required.
- Adhere to all HSQE plans, policies and procedures.
- Contribute to achieving the objectives and targets of the Asset Operations Business Plan
- Perform other such duties in relation to work and asset management as may reasonably require
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaboration with key internal stakeholders across the business.
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across the business and its supply chain, reinforcing positive behaviours and delivering health and safety objectives and requirements to the highest industry standards.
- Support the delivery of the Transformation Programme, driving results required within the Directorate and supporting organisation-wide objectives.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, 3 of which should be in Process Optimisation in the Water Industry
- Proven technical competence is essential along with a relevant third level qualification in engineering or scientific discipline or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of water process technologies, operational performance and energy efficiency is required
- Solid practical operational experience allied to technical knowledge (design, equipment selection and commissioning experience), together with an excellent understanding of the best operating practices is desirable
- Require in depth professional knowledge of operational control of water treatment processes, design requirements, and scientific principles
- Require in depth knowledge of both risk assessment and relevant legislation/regulations, coupled with the practical ability to undertake auditing and provide recommendations for improvements
- Ability to: prioritise tasks, work with schedules and manage resources while remaining focused on team goals develop relationships to accomplish team goals coupled with dealing effectively with differences of opinion and conflict management establish courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently clearly convey information through a variety of media to individuals across the organisation excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deliver training to operations staff
- Experience/understanding of working within a strong health and safety culture experience working within Water Services and/ or other Utilities is desirable knowledge of monitoring, load management and ICA systems is desirable
