Research Assistant in Virtual Reality

This is an exciting opportunity to join our research team as a Research Assistant in Virtual Reality. We are seeking a highly motivated individual to work on a collaborative research project regarding Virtual Reality (VR) and Initial Teacher Education (ITE). The successful candidate will play a critical role in developing the technical dimensions of the project and the research activities associated with this.

The position involves a range of responsibilities including:

  • Developing VR simulations for Initial Teacher Education;
  • Enhancing interactivity and usability of existing VR environments;
  • Capturing and visualizing interaction data; and
  • Collaborating with the research team to design and implement research projects.

As a Research Assistant, you will have experience in VR development and be able to demonstrate your skills in programming languages such as Python or C++.

You will be based on campus for the majority of your working week and may be approved for up to 2 days of remote working per week. Any remote working arrangement will be reflective of the predominant on-campus working environment and the core University value of 'Student Focused'. You will be part of a dynamic and innovative team that values collaboration, creativity, and excellence in teaching and research.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience in VR development and programming languages such as Python or C++;
  • Strong understanding of computer science concepts and principles;
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills;
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace.

Additionally, you should have a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master's degree or Ph.D. in a relevant field would be advantageous.
