Mobile Support Engineers are sought after by leading automotive firms to join their support teams. This role involves handling daily customer queries related to diagnosing and resolving vehicle faults, performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs as required.

This key position requires building solid relationships with customers while maintaining a flexible work schedule without shift work or call-outs. Mobile Support Engineers will work in depots or garages using company-provided tools and equipment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Identify root cause failures, estimate retail repairs, and log findings for the service team.
  • Utilize industry diagnostic equipment and client manuals to identify mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Provide on-site technical support to customers ensuring timely and professional issue resolution.
  • Oversee warranty repairs, ensuring timely completion and accurate return of parts.
  • Proactively promote and sell services and parts to customers.
  • Serve as the interface between Regional Service Managers and customer workshop operatives.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Perform other duties essential for effective post operation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • NVQ level 3 / City and Guilds in Heavy Vehicle/PSV engineering or equivalent.
  • 1 year's experience in engineering, heavy vehicle/PSV environments, dealerships, or fleets.
  • Strong mechanical skills and technical background.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair faults efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to travel to various work locations.

Desirable Experience

  • Apprenticeship in a heavy vehicle engineering environment.
  • PSV background.
  • Electrical and/or Chassis experience.
  • Experience in the Bus & Coach Industry.
  • Customer-facing experience.
