The role involves supporting the tax manager and team across various corporation tax and transfer pricing areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting the Manager and the tax team with the corporation tax compliance cycle, ensuring timely provision of information to external advisors for local tax returns.
- Reviewing draft tax returns and related documents to support tax manager with tax return finalisation.
- Working closely with the Financial Reporting team on the preparation and review of tax charges and tax notes/disclosures for statutory financial statements.
- Supporting tax reporting to our shareholder for budget, forecasts, and year-end, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information provided.
- Preparing information for the group's auditors at half-year and year-end.
- Reviewing and instructing relevant tax payments on account to tax authorities in a timely manner.
- Staying up-to-date with changes in tax law and practice across all jurisdictions relevant to Primark.
- Engaging positively with tax advisors and authorities to maintain Primark's good reputation.
- Preparing filings and documentation for compliance with transfer pricing obligations.
- Liaising with external advisors on fees and raising purchase orders for payments to advisors.
- Preparing and posting period-end accruals for various taxes.
- Supporting the tax manager with tax audits across all countries.
- Ensuring proper books and records are held for tax purposes in all jurisdictions, in accordance with local tax requirements.
The ideal candidate will have a tax qualification (AITI, CTA or equivalent) and accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent) desirable. They should also have 3+ years of relevant experience and possess highly organised, detail-oriented skills, with the ability to effectively prioritise projects and deliverables while meeting deadlines set by management.
Additionally, they should have excellent planning and organisation skills, with the ability to multi-task, plan, and prioritise work schedules for self and team, and work within agreed timescales.
They must be able to analyse and interrogate high volumes of data, while demonstrating an ability to focus on higher-level overview.
A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal/communication skills is required, along with high levels of emotional intelligence and the ability to push back with professionalism.
They must also operate with a high level of integrity, diplomacy, tact, and professionalism.
Effective and persuasive presentation skills are essential, including the ability to present complex information in an understandable manner to all areas of the business.
Sound judgement, unquestionable ethics, and integrity, with a high degree of transparency and trust, are necessary.
Commercial awareness, with the ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of wider business factors, is also required.
Strong financial and analytical acumen, as well as excellent Project Management and communication skills, are essential for this role.
Self-motivated, proactive individuals with a strong work ethic are ideal candidates for this position.
