Senior Psychologist Role

We are seeking a Senior Psychologist to join our team in Galway. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering evidence-based psychological interventions to children and their families across the region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments and provide individualized interventions for children aged 0–18 within the primary care setting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to develop and implement effective treatment plans.
  • Deliver time-limited interventions, both individually and in groups, in line with service goals and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, adhering to HSE standards and professional guidelines.
  • Participate in service planning, development, and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the advancement of best practices in child mental health.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with families, schools, and relevant agencies to support children's psychological well-being.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical pathways to address service delays and improve access to care.
  • Engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development (CPD) activities to stay updated on the latest research and best practices.
Requirements:
  • Hold an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology, or an equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
  • Possess relevant experience working with children and families, ideally in a primary care or child mental health setting.
  • This is a fixed-term position linked specifically to the Wait List Initiative, lasting 12 months.
  • May involve travel within the Galway area; a full driving license and access to transport is desirable.
