Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Catering Teacher to join our team at our specialist Autism School. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting students in developing their catering skills, with a primary focus on education.

The role involves individualized lesson planning, delivery of lessons, marking of work, and differentiating appropriately to meet the needs of students. Additionally, the candidate will help students draw up action plans for employment, education, and training, and support them in achieving these goals.

The Catering Teacher will also participate in the completion and monitoring of student assessments, being accountable for student attainment, progress, and outcomes within their subject area. They will support the implementation and delivery of each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Personal Education Plan (PEP) by providing relevant data to monitor progress, set targets, and plan lessons.

Liaising and negotiating with employers, colleges, universities, and training providers to provide the best opportunities for our students is another key responsibility. Demonstrating an understanding of how a student's early life experiences may contribute to challenging behavior and recognizing and accepting the need to intervene using positive handling strategies are also essential aspects of this role.


Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A minimum qualification level of A Level or equivalent.
  • Specialist knowledge of a function, trade, or craft acquired through advanced formal training. BTEC National Certificate / ONC level or A level or Scottish Highers in a job-related discipline, or equivalent advanced craft certificate (City & Guilds Level 3/NVQ 3).
