Environmental Impact Assessment Specialist

This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will lead the delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and Appropriate Assessments for large-scale Renewable Energy infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead the EIA process for large-scale Renewable Energy Projects, ensuring the timely delivery of Environmental Impact Assessment Reports and Appropriate Assessments/Natura Impact Statements.
  2. Provide environmental expertise to inform project strategies and ensure compliance with Planning and Environmental legislation.
  3. Stay up-to-date with changes in planning and environmental legislation, policy decisions, and updates to national, regional, and local authority development plans to maximize project outcomes.
  4. Assist the Stakeholder and Advocacy team in developing effective project plans for stakeholder engagement and consultation with local communities and other relevant stakeholders.
  5. Prepare specifications for third-party services and assist the procurement team in the various stages of associated procurement processes.
  6. Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety and Environmental policies and relevant EU and National policies and statutory requirements.
  7. Assist with the upskilling and mentoring of junior staff in the EIA and Appropriate Assessment processes.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Hons Degree (Lvl 8 FETAC) in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or equivalent; Post Graduate (Lvl 9 FETAC) qualification in a relevant discipline desirable but not essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in leading the preparation of EIAR and AA/NIS for large-scale projects essential; Reporting to a Planning Programme Manager and liaising with all management levels across the organization.
  • Expertise in leading the delivery of EIS/EIAR and AA/NIS documentation for large-scale development projects essential; experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams on EIA projects essential.
  • Understanding of the EIA process and Irish planning policy and legislation in relation to the EIA essential.
