**Job Overview:**

The South Dublin County Council is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an Executive Environmental Scientific Officer. This exciting role offers the opportunity to work at the heart of local government, contributing to the protection of the environment and the well-being of our community.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Manage a team in the delivery of the council's statutory responsibility in environmental protection, including monitoring, compliance, investigation, and enforcement of critical legislation.
  • Develop and deliver annual inspection programmes, incorporating national and local priorities with measurable deliverables.
  • Perform actions to meet measures under the River Basin Management Plan and respond to water pollution incidents.
  • Assist in the development of the council's annual RMCEI plan and perform inspections of facilities to ensure compliance with relevant waste/environmental protection legislation.

**Requirements:**

  • Minimum two years' satisfactory experience of scientific work, including technical training and experience in areas such as air & noise pollution control, waste enforcement, and water quality & pollution management.
  • Possess a high standard of technical training and experience in environmental protection legislation, including knowledge of catchment management, water framework directive monitoring, water pollution legislation, drinking water regulations, and waste management act and associated legislation.
  • Able to work on own initiative and have the ability to work within and manage a multidisciplinary team.
  • Possess strong organizational skills, good IT skills, and a good knowledge and awareness of health and safety legislation and regulations.

**Benefits:**

  • Salary range €59,067 - €80,897 (LSI2)
  • 35 hours per week
  • 30 days annual leave entitlement
