Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures across our operations – manufacturing plants, construction sites, and professional services offices.
  • Primary responsibility for the organization's health and safety, including direction, performance, and ongoing improvement.
  • Lead role in all HSE matters, ensuring alignment with current laws and best practices.
  • Development and implementation of initiatives to minimize workplace risks and accidents.
  • Risk assessments to guarantee compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Incident investigation and recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaboration with managers and key employees to drive continuous improvement in HSE and wellbeing.
  • Close cooperation with the HSE team to ensure effective control, documentation, and maintenance of compliance requirements.
  • Implementation of rigorous risk assessment and incident management systems throughout the organization.
  • Review and refinement of risk assessments for factory activities, considering various factors such as chemical exposure, manual handling, noise, and statutory requirements.
  • Consultation with HR on health and wellbeing issues, especially where risk assessments indicate a need, including support for HR and line managers in performing individual risk assessments when necessary.
  • Development, coaching, and maintenance of HSE procedures, programmes, and management systems conforming to ISO 14001 & ISO45001 standards.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Third-level qualification in a field related to HSE, backed by considerable experience in this area.
  • Prior experience in conducting health and safety management audits against ISO 45001 and implementing corrective actions based on audit findings.
  • Proven ability to train, coach, and mentor others in health and safety knowledge and skills.
  • Detailed understanding of current HSE legislation, management, and standards.
  • Ability to offer authoritative guidance on health and safety and risk management issues.
  • NB: The ideal candidate will possess one or more of the following qualifications: NEBOSH Health and Safety Certificate, General or Construction NVQ Occupational Health and Safety, NEBOSH Environmental Diploma, PTTLS or Train the Trainer.
