We are seeking an Automation Expert to join our team in Galway on a permanent contract. As an Automation Expert, you will support ongoing development to a number of high-speed automated production lines and new product introductions.

About the role:

You will collaborate with various teams to provide comprehensive support of all automation and information systems, ensuring optimal performance and minimised downtime.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and support existing automation infrastructure for optimal performance and minimised downtime.
  • Collaborate with IT Group, Application Group, and External Technical Resources to provide comprehensive support of all Automation and Information Systems and Technologies.
  • Implement industry best practices to deliver improved productivity, quality, and efficiency throughout the organisation.
  • Install and deploy systems, software, and peripherals as required, liaising with external vendors and service contractors as appropriate.
  • Provide technical direction for all new infrastructure developments, in agreement with the Engineering Manager.
  • Interface with Corporate Information Systems on standards, support, and new infrastructure developments.
  • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, and other applications.
  • Provide regular reports to Management and deliver projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Document all aspects of system support including all procedures to ISO standards.
  • Provide innovative inputs to new production lines in the areas of control, data collection, motive power, robotics, vision systems, and communications.
  • Install, configure, and maintain computer networks, including LANs, WANs, and intranets.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mechatronics or a related Automation/Engineering discipline.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Automated equipment.
  • Ability to use Allen-Bradley PLC to troubleshoot.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley Studio 5000, Cognex Vision Systems, Robotics.
