Quality Systems Lead Job Description

As a Quality Systems Lead, you will play a critical role in the development and implementation of our quality management system. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of our organization.


Job Description:

This position is responsible for leading the ongoing development of our quality system. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our quality systems meet current legislation, industry standards, and customer requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement effective quality systems and procedures.
  2. Support the Head of Quality in the continuous improvement of the overall quality management system.
  3. Ensure that all quality systems meet regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  4. Lead and manage the operational performance of the quality systems while ensuring the successful delivery of business objectives.
  5. Carry out quality assurance reviews of batch documents and quality analytical/microbiological data to support batch release.
  6. Continuously review and improve processes for batch release while ensuring batch release is within service level agreements.
  7. Ensure all quality assurance activities support routine production needs.
  8. Ongoing development and tracking of agreed quality KPIs and coordinating the monthly review process.
  9. Own the inspection readiness program and hosting of regulatory, customer, and certification audits/inspections.
  10. Management of supplier and raw material approval protocol ensuring all suppliers approved with specifications in place pre-purchase.
  11. Manage incoming material inspection and release.
  12. Facilitate review and approval of change control and deviation records.
  13. Management of the overall CAPA program ensuring corrective and preventative measures taken when deviations noted.
  14. Product recall process improvement and lead the mock recall process annually.
  15. Development and implementation of the annual business quality review program.
  16. Lead the customer complaints management process.
  17. Lead the supplier non-conformances with corrective action and preventative measures.
  18. Maintain competent authority authorizations including submission of variations.
  19. Communicate routinely with key stakeholders all aspects of quality activities.
  20. Complete validation and qualification activities as required providing expert guidance.
  21. Manage the internal audit program.
  22. Support the review of IT quality system selection and lead the implementation plan.
  23. Lead the process for FSSC 22000 certification.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline to include science, quality, or engineering master's degree a plus.
  • Minimum 10+ years' experience in a quality leadership role with at least 5 years in process-based manufacturing for the food and/or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong understanding of both food microbiological and analytical laboratory activities.
  • Proven record in developing and implementing successful quality systems and procedures including quality IT systems.
  • Demonstrated success in quality leadership and quality management experience which includes quality execution analysis and deadline-driven.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience using structured methodologies where applicable to reach a successful outcome.
