Community Engagement Lead

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Community Engagement Lead to lead our engagement activity as part of an ambitious conservation programme.

This role is about more than just project delivery. You will manage and lead a small team, building connections across diverse community groups and helping people take action for the natural world.

You will co-create inspiring conservation experiences, build strong partnerships, and nurture and upskill the next generation of environmental leaders.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Lead the co-design and delivery of a community engagement programme.
  2. Line manage 3 Community Engagement Officers to implement programme activities.
  3. Build partnerships with schools, youth organisations, community organisations, landowners, and local authorities.
  4. Ensure cross-community and cross-border cooperation in training/upskilling activities.
  5. Develop and oversee the rollout of an Environment Leaders Programme in the project areas.
  6. Drive the creation of educational and engagement resources.
  7. Plan and coordinate a series of education sessions, site visits, and volunteer opportunities.
  8. Monitor and evaluate programme success and report on KPIs and community impact.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, & Experience
  • Proven experience in community engagement programme planning and delivery, particularly working with young people.
  • Strong Leadership skills, including project and people management.
  • Experience working with diverse community groups.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to use these to build and maintain productive internal and external relationships.
  • The ability to manage staff and develop and maintain good relations with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and skills in practical conservation are desirable.
  • Experience of working with and in rural communities is desirable.
