High Voltage Operations Manager

This is a permanent position available with a considerable portfolio of works for the next 5+ years.

Job Overview:

Our team is seeking an experienced High Voltage Operations Manager to lead and coordinate HV electrical trade teams on site, ensuring HV installation, testing, and commissioning activities are carried out safely and to high standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide leadership in the safe execution of HV works, including switching, testing, isolations, and energisation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety rules for HV systems, permits-to-work, and control of HV apparatus.
  • Supervise installation of HV switchgear, transformers, cabling, protection and control systems.
  • Liaise with commissioning teams, clients, and network operators on HV energisation activities.
  • Oversee specialist HV subcontractors and integrate their work with other site activities.
  • Enforce HV safety protocols, exclusion zones, and control measures to achieve high safety performance.
  • Maintain detailed records of HV activities, permits, isolations, and switching operations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Senior Trades qualification or equivalent, with 5+ years' site experience in High Voltage systems.
  • Hands-on experience with HV equipment (switchgear, transformers, protection & control).
  • Ability to interpret HV schematics, protection schemes and electrical drawings.
  • Strong understanding of HV testing and commissioning processes.
  • Demonstrated track record as a trade leader in HV environments.
  • Familiarity with HV safety rules, permits, and isolation procedures.
  • Strong client focus with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Organised, decisive and results-oriented, with resilience to work under pressure.
