Senior Database Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled senior database engineer with expertise in designing, optimizing, and maintaining large-scale databases. The ideal candidate will have strong software engineering experience and a deep understanding of database internals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable database architectures for high availability, partitioning, replication, and disaster recovery.
  • Analyze and optimize complex queries, indexing strategies, and database configurations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively address bottlenecks in queries and data flows.
  • Implement robust security standards and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Tune databases via query analysis, indexing, configuration changes, and use of partitioning and materialized views as needed for scale.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for development, operations, and business teams; provide guidance on best practices, review code, document technical details, and mentor staff.
  • Develop tools and automation to provisioning, monitoring, backups, migrations, and deployments.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of professional experience with PostgreSQL in large-scale production environments.
  • Strong SQL skills with deep understanding of database internals.
  • Proven software development experience.
  • Experience with schema design, indexing strategies, and data partitioning.
  • Hands-on experience with replication, backups, and failover solutions.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Unix, shell scripting, and containerization.
  • Familiarity with version control and CI/CD practices.
  • Strong debugging and performance tuning skills across database and application layers.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with microservices and REST API development.
  • Familiarity with message queues and event-driven architectures.
