Job Title

This role is for a dedicated healthcare professional to provide high-quality patient care in a specialist oncology setting. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based practice and support patients throughout their cancer journey.


Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice
  • Provide specialist nursing care to patients with a diagnosis of cancer, ensuring a patient-centered approach and prioritizing their physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs.
  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, using best evidence-based practice in cancer care, and develop individualized plans of care in conjunction with the MDT and patients as appropriate.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient responses to treatment, amending plans of care accordingly, and collaborate with the MDT and patients to optimize outcomes.

Indirect Care
  • Identify and agree referral pathways for patients with cancer, ensuring seamless transitions between services.
  • Participate in case review with the MDT, utilizing a case management approach to address complex needs and promote effective communication.
  • Take a proactive role in policy development, ensuring that cancer care services align with best practice guidelines and promote excellence in patient care.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Be currently registered nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses/Midwives held by Bord Altranais (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland).
  • Hold an Oncology Qualification from an accredited institution or be willing to undertake the course and/or in-house training.
  • Have experience in the specialist area of cancer care, demonstrating the ability to practice safely and effectively within their scope of practice.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, organizational, and time management skills, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, commitment to providing a quality service, teamwork, and the ability to practice safely and effectively fulfilling their professional responsibility within their scope of practice.
