Job Title: Cancer Care Specialist


Job Description:
  • To provide high-quality patient care and support to patients with cancer diagnoses, ensuring their needs are met and they receive the best possible treatment.
  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate care to patients, families, and caregivers, using a holistic approach that incorporates physical, psychological, social, and spiritual elements.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement plans of care, monitoring and evaluating patient responses to treatment, and making adjustments as needed.
  • Provide comprehensive patient assessments, including physical, psychological, social, and spiritual elements, using evidence-based practice guidelines.
  • Make referrals to relevant multidisciplinary team colleagues as necessary, and coordinate investigations, treatments, and follow-up care for patients.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and caregivers to assess their needs, provide relevant support, information, education, advice, and counseling, or make referrals to other multidisciplinary team members as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Current registration as a nurse/midwife on the active Register of Nurses/Midwives held by Bord Altranais (Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland).
  • Oncology qualification from an accredited institution, or willingness to undertake the course and/or in-house training.
  • Experience in the specialist area of cancer care.
  • Ability to practice safely and effectively within the scope of practice, fulfilling professional responsibility.
  • Effective communication skills, organizational and time management skills, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, commitment to providing a quality service, teamwork, and ability to practice safely and effectively.
