Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our school health team. As an Itinerant Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to students within the school system.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver direct student care, including first aid and administering medication as needed.
  • Conduct thorough health appraisals and make referrals for vision, hearing, dental, physical disability, and scoliosis issues.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques when preparing medications and administer them according to established policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor students for head lice and provide parents with guidance on proper treatment methods.
  • Record student health history, maintain accurate health records, and update plans annually to ensure seamless continuity of care.
  • Manage and oversee the inventory of equipment, supplies, and materials in the school health clinic, ensuring they are up-to-date and readily available for use.
  • Ensure the secure storage and handling of school health supplies, and prepare detailed reports for supervisors and other stakeholders as required.
Requirements:
  • Hold a valid current license to practice nursing in the state of Alabama.
  • Be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • Possess an associate degree and current CPR certification.
