About This Opportunity

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced nurse to provide support to children with intellectual disabilities in our respite service.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who's passionate about working with children and families, and interested in providing opportunities for children with ID to develop their full potential in a supportive environment.

As a Relief Staff Nurse, you will work in one of our purpose-built children's respite centres, delivering therapeutic interventions, practical support, and nursing care as needed to meet the needs of individual children/young people.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing high-quality care and support to children with intellectual disabilities
  • Collaborating with colleagues to ensure seamless delivery of care and services
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with families and carers to support the needs of children
Requirements:
  • Registered General Nurse (RGN), Registered Mental Health Nurse (RNMH), or Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse (RNID) qualifications or other suitable nursing qualifications
  • Current registration as a Staff Nurse on the register maintained by the NMBI
  • Strong interest and/or experience in working with children with intellectual disabilities and their families
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, interpersonal, organisational, and initiative skills
  • Excellent understanding of Person-Centred Planning, Safeguarding, Risk Management, Positive Behaviour Support, and Children's Rights
  • Knowledge and understanding of National Standards for Residential Services for Children and Adults with Disabilities and relevant legislation pertinent to supporting children
