Lead Nursing Professional

This is an exceptional opportunity to join our team as a Lead Nursing Professional in a 51-bed Nursing Home located in Co.Galway.

The successful candidate will support the Director of Nursing in delivering high-standard, evidence-based care that meets HIQA regulations and national standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the nursing home, ensuring seamless delivery of person-centred care.
  • Maintain current knowledge of HIQA standards and national health policies to inform clinical practices and ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and monitor care plans that promote resident wellbeing.
  • Oversee infection prevention and control measures, aligning with updated HIQA guidance.
  • Ensure ongoing adherence to relevant legislation and HIQA regulations, including the Health Act 2007 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People) Regulations 2013 (as amended).
  • Assist in preparing for, responding to, and following up on HIQA inspections and audits.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including risk registers, incident logs, care plans, and audit results.
  • Foster a supportive environment by supervising, mentoring, and developing nursing and care staff.
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, rostering, and performance appraisals.
  • Organise regular team meetings, clinical supervision, and reflective practice sessions to enhance teamwork and collaboration.
  • Promote dignity, autonomy, and choice for all residents within a safe and inclusive environment.
  • Act as a key point of contact for residents and families, handling concerns or complaints professionally and in line with policy.

Requirements:

  • Registered General Nurse (RGN) with active registration from the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in nursing management or a similar aged care setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HIQA Standards and relevant legislation.
  • Leadership training and/or a management qualification is desirable.
  • Postgraduate qualification in nursing leadership is advantageous.
