Occupational Health Professional Lead

The role of an Occupational Health Clinical Nurse Manager is a pivotal one, focused on delivering high-quality care to employees in the workplace. The aim of the department is based on the Occupational Health Model of Care, which includes principles such as prevention of staff becoming ill or injured due to workplace factors, assessment and advice for employees who become unwell or injured, and provision of timely and quality care in the event of workplace injury or illness.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To identify and control workplace hazards in accordance with health and safety legislation through regular visits to work areas.
2. To investigate cases of work-related illness or disease and report these to the consultant in occupational medicine or Health & Safety Officer as appropriate.
3. Conduct occupational health surveys and research programmes to improve employee health and wellbeing.
4. Participate on various committees that focus on staff health and wellbeing.
Qualifications and Experience:
To be successful in this role, you will have:
1. Registration in the General division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
2. At least 5 years post-registration experience.
3. At least 2 years' experience in a management role, ideally in the speciality of occupational health.
4. A recognised Occupational Health qualification or undertaking one.
Professional Knowledge:
As an Occupational Health Clinical Nurse Manager, you will need to demonstrate experience of case management, condition management programmes, occupational health nurse advisor role, health promotion in work settings, infection control issues, manual handling risk management, and stress management techniques.
