Job Summary

The role of Occupational Therapist involves working with residents who have severe and enduring mental illness and complex needs. This position is pivotal, requiring the successful candidate to lead and manage an Occupational Therapy caseload in a hospital setting.

The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and a patient-centered approach.

  • Deliver high-quality clinical care in Occupational Therapy, meeting objectives aligned with local and national standards.
  • Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment/intervention programmes for residents and patients, adhering to professional standards.
  • Collaborate with residents, families, carers, and other staff members in goal setting and treatment/intervention planning.
  • Maintain comprehensive clinical records of assessments, interventions carried out, and discussions relating to residents.
  • Provide Occupational Therapy Services within a compliant framework, ensuring efficient and effective services.
  • Participate in the multi-disciplinary/healthcare team, working collaboratively with colleagues.
Key Qualifications
  • Registered on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Hold a degree in Occupational Therapy or an equivalent qualification and be eligible for membership with the AOTI.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of health, safety, and statutory regulations affecting healthcare organisations.
  • Energetic team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Approachable and patient-friendly.
  • Self-confident, enthusiastic, and persuasive with the ability to influence and negotiate.
