Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Expert to support the delivery of a quality histology service. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that laboratory practices meet international standards (ISO 15189) and provide accurate results to aid medical diagnosis.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the delivery of a quality histology service
  • Ensure laboratory practices meet international standards (ISO 15189)
  • Provide accurate results to aid medical diagnosis

Requirements:

  • Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the Technological University of Dublin/Dublin Institute of Technology or Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from the Joint University College Cork-Cork Institute of Technology course or Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994 and possess Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology (awarded prior to 1997)
  • A recognised qualification at least equivalent to the above; or a post graduate degree in the field of Medical Laboratory Science; or have attained the fellowship examination of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences and have at least 4 years' experience in a medical laboratory since qualifying as a Medical Scientist
  • Experience of working in a Histology Laboratory and be registered with CORU or be eligible for registration or be currently registered with HCPC as a Biomedical Scientist
