Job Description

The role involves transporting goods to job sites, inspecting and maintaining the vehicle, reporting shortages and claims to supervisors, and assisting with loading and storing materials. Typically, this will involve driving a truck with a capacity of more than three tons.

The CDL Driver I is responsible for ensuring safe operation and participating in a positive work environment. They must maintain a current Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required and prepare DOT required log of time on duty and driving. The driver must also organize and secure loads, assist forklift operators when loading, check orders for accuracy, deliver and unload materials to customers' satisfaction, complete daily equipment pre-inspection, record all merchandise that is returned by truck, and assist in unloading material returned for credit.

The driver must follow guidelines established by the Department of Transportation, provide excellent customer service, relay messages sent by customers while on the job, assist supervisors, other employees, and other work areas as assigned, assist in maintaining good housekeeping in the yard and warehouse, comply with all company policies and guidelines, operate truck mounted forklift safely and efficiently, maintain cleanliness of the truck, participate in and complete assigned trainings, and perform other duties as assigned.

This role requires basic math skills, reading orders, writing instructions, and completing forms. Effective communication skills are necessary for interacting with customers, other employees, and supervisors using verbal and written skills. Conflict resolution and problem recognition skills are also essential.

Additional responsibilities include operating the truck in compliance with traffic laws and regulations, adhering to Company's commitment to workplace safety, and adhering to all policies and standards.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required for this position.

  • 1-3 years of CDL experience is preferred for interstate commerce.
  • Basic CDL experience with flat beds and/or tractor trailers is required.
