Ecological Clerk of Works: Protecting the Environment

Job Responsibilities
  • Review relevant documents, such as NIS, EcIA, CEMP, biodiversity, and habitat management plans.
  • Conduct pre-commencement and post-operation ecological surveys, record data, create maps using QGIS, and produce detailed reports.
  • Provide ecological site supervision, record data, and recommendations given to site operatives, producing detailed final audit reports.
  • Consult with local planning authorities, local heritage officers, National Parks and Wildlife (NPWS), and Inland Fisheries Ireland (IFI).
  • Take ownership of projects under senior team members' direction from inception to completion, providing regular project updates to ecology team seniors.
Key Requirements
  • A third-level qualification in environmental science, ecology, or similar discipline, construction management, civil engineering, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 2 years' post-graduate experience or a broad range of project experience at the construction stage.
  • Knowledge of construction and project management, ecology, and other EIAR subject areas.
Skillset and Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess strong project management skills, excellent communication skills (written and verbal), and IT skills. They should be well organised, with meticulous attention to detail, and able to manage a varied and full workload.

Experience in planning condition compliance, implementing mitigation measures, on-site monitoring, report writing, QGIS, and toolbox talks is desirable. The candidate should thrive in a busy work environment and deliver to required project deadlines.
