The Hotel Duty Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all areas within the hotel, maintaining high standards of service delivery and cleanliness. Key responsibilities include:
- Liaising with Heads of Department (HODs) to ensure sufficient staffing levels.
- Maintaining the agreed standard of operation in all areas and addressing any discrepancies with relevant HODs.
- Being operationally responsible for service delivery and standards throughout the entire building during duty hours.
In addition, the Hotel Duty Manager is responsible for:
- Ensuring that all signage throughout the building is up-to-date, correctly displayed, and professionally maintained.
- Patrolling the building at regular intervals to check cleanliness, both inside and outside.
- Verifying that fire exits are free from obstruction and in proper working order.
- Leading the team in the event of a fire alarm or pre-alarm scenario.
- Maintaining a lobby presence during peak check-in/out times, lunchtime, and peak tea/coffee times.
- Ensuring back-of-house areas are clean and properly maintained.
- Attending daily team briefings to cover business and provide feedback.
- Implementing a comprehensive handover system to inform the Manager on Duty about VIPs, complaints, special requests, function business, and AOB.
- Caring for requisitions outside of store hours, completing necessary documentation.
- Dealing with Salto Wristband loss incidents in conjunction with the General Manager.
- Daily spot-checking guest bedrooms.
- Maintaining public areas according to agreed standards.
- Handling complaints calmly, organized, and discreetly, ensuring complete service recovery.
- Participating in and conducting training as required.
- Compiling, recording, and storing necessary Duty Management documentation.
- Conducting show-rounds as needed.
- Assisting with booking out guests to hotels when necessary.
