Senior Ecologist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Ecologist to join our expanding Ecology team. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading ecological input to water engineering projects, driving high standards of environmental performance, and mentoring junior colleagues.


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist with excellent technical skills, leadership qualities, and a passion for high-quality ecological consultancy. You will be responsible for managing and delivering ecological input into projects across a variety of sectors, including infrastructure, planning, and development.


Key Responsibilities
  • Lead ecological assessments for infrastructure, planning, and development projects.
  • Design and oversee habitat and species surveys in accordance with best practice and legislation.
  • Provide expert ecological advice to clients, design teams, and statutory bodies.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities such as NPWS, planning departments, and other consultants.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion, including scoping, resourcing, budgeting, and reporting.

Requirements
  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related discipline (MSc or higher preferred).
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in ecological consultancy or similar role.
  • Proven experience in habitat and protected species surveys.
  • Strong project management skills, including budget and time management.
  • In-depth knowledge of Irish and EU wildlife legislation and environmental policy.
