Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to develop and implement holistic psychological interventions that meet individual service-users' needs by providing direct support and guidance to service-users and staff alike.

  • This requires a Relevant Master's and/or Doctorate level, professional qualification in Psychology recognised by the Psychological Society of Ireland.
  • Chartered membership (or eligible for) with the Psychological Society of Ireland or Chartered membership (or eligible for) of the British Psychological Society would be beneficial.
  • At least 3 years work experience in the field of Learning Disability/Autism/Mental Health/Physical or Sensory Disability is required.

An understanding of the Recovery Approach and of Person-Centred Planning would be advantageous.

Your Responsibilities
  • You will support students/service users and staff to identify personal goals and learning, social, emotional, cognitive needs through effective planning strategies.
  • Prepare students/service users for Individual Action Plan (IAP) or Person-Centred Planning meetings by guiding them on how to set achievable goals.
  • Contribute to intake assessments by providing valuable insights into the service-users' needs.
  • You will undertake appropriate psychological assessments using data from psychological tests, self-report measures, direct and indirect observations and interviews with students/service users and other stakeholders where necessary.
  • Summarise the results of clinical assessments in professional and accessible reports in line with professional standards and the intended audience.
  • You will design and implement high-quality, formulation-driven psychological interventions, therapies and supports based on established evidence-based practice and Rehab Groups commitment to the principles of recovery, co-production, equality, diversity, dignity and respect.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of psychological interventions and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Present recommendations in a professional and accessible manner in line with professional standards and the intended audience.
  • You will be aware of and refer students/service users to other external clinical services when necessary.
  • Develop and work within a stepped care model including inter-agency work and service delivery.
  • Provide regular consultation and guidance to staff to help them deliver high-quality support in line with best practice.
  • Design and deliver training to staff to support good practice e.g., in the areas of mental health, education, rehabilitation etc.
