Senior Structural Design Engineer Job Description

This is a key role within our expanding buildings team, responsible for delivering high-quality, cost-effective and sustainable building projects across various sectors.

About the Role

The successful candidate will work with architects, developers, local authorities, and property owners to develop robust, long-lasting building designs. Our portfolio features private housing developments, social housing developments, healthcare facilities, retail developments, office buildings, primary, secondary, and third-level school buildings.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Structural Design Engineer will be responsible for:

  • Developing and implementing structural design concepts for various building projects
  • Collaborating with architects, developers, and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget
  • Mentoring junior engineering staff in all aspects of design
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant building regulations and technical guidance documents
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

  • Honours degree in structural/civil engineering (Level 8 qualification or equivalent)
  • Five to ten years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work in a team and/or under own guidance
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Good organisational skills
  • Chartered or working towards chartered status with a recognised professional body
  • Full driving licence
  • Fluent/highly proficient in spoken and written English
Desirable Skills

Prior experience in:

  • Structural design using Eurocodes
  • BIM/Revit/Robot software
  • AUTO CAD
