Job Title:

Health and Safety Specialist

A challenging role has arisen for a motivated Health and Safety Specialist to join our team in County Cavan. The ideal candidate will have a Level 7/8 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering, with additional training/experience in Occupational Health and Safety Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Promotion: Develop and implement effective safety promotion strategies to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Fire Safety Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough fire safety risk assessments and provide recommendations for equipment and resource improvements.
  • New Products/Processes: Assess new products and processes for potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • First Aid/Spills: Ensure suitable first aid equipment and procedures are in place, and conduct regular spill response training.
  • Risk Assessments: Identify and mitigate workplace hazards through regular risk assessments and reviews.
  • Safety Committee: Facilitate monthly safety committee meetings, ensuring all personnel understand their responsibilities and contribute to improving health and safety practices.
  • Accident Investigations: Lead investigations into accidents and incidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
  • Auditing: Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with ISO 45001, 14001, 17025, and 50001 standards.
  • Legislation: Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and regulations, ensuring the organization remains compliant.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Level 7/8 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering.
  • Additional training/experience in Occupational Health and Safety Management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management.
  • Competent computer skills using Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
