Job Overview

Google is seeking a Global Network Implementation Engineer to join our network implementation team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for executing deployment, maintenance, and operations of private data networks worldwide.

Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver Google's network reliably and at scale, with a focus on workflow automation.
  2. Drive adaptable and scalable approaches to optimize network deployment cycle time and operational costs through process improvements.
  3. Own an area of responsibility, addressing issues, anticipating needs, and escalating as necessary, while identifying automation opportunities to improve efficiency and prevent reoccurring failure modes.
  4. Maintain accurate network data to motivate operational excellence.

About the Team

You will work with cross-functional teams, including Technical Program Managers, Network Engineers, Design and Infrastructure Engineers, Field Engineers within Google, as well as construction and telecommunications vendors and contractors, to position your team and organization for success.

You will facilitate faster, better, and more efficient, positive outcomes for the business and our customers.

Your objective will be to build the world's most reliable, cost-effective, and scalable network to support all of our current and future customers and users globally.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in Dense Wave-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) or TCP/IP or system design operations methodology.
  • Experience with fiber types and their application, physical fiber characteristics, and standard testing tools (e.g., OSA, BERT, OTDR).
  • Experience in telecommunications at carrier class scale and with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer 2/3 routers, and data services.
