Job Title: Staff Nurse Orthopedics

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Staff Nurse Orthopedics to join our team on a 11-month fixed term contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality patient-centered care as part of a collaborative nursing team.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with multidisciplinary colleagues.
  • Contribute to innovative practice within the unit, delivering evidence-based care that meets the needs of patients and their families.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in orthopedic nursing practice.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care, acting as an advocate when necessary.
  • Support the development of new staff members through mentorship and precepting.
  • Liaise with educational institutions to establish UPMC Whitfield as a recognized learning environment for student nurses.
  • Communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless teamwork and collaboration.
  • Support the unit manager in meeting agreed responsibilities and participating in accreditation activities.
  • Identify patient and nursing needs with consultants, teams, patients, and carers, taking responsibility for a named group of patients on a shift basis.
  • Maintain the highest standards of patient care and safety, demonstrating empathy and psychological support.
  • Understand pre-assessment principles and stay informed about relevant professional guidelines and regulations.
  • Work within established policies on risk management, occupational health, and financial controls.
Requirements:
  • Be a registered general nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
  • Hold experience in orthopedic or general inpatient wards, with pediatric experience desirable.
  • Demonstrate ongoing continuing professional development (CPD).
