Local Training Initiative Assistant Co-ordinator

Exchange House Ireland National Travellers Service is the largest front line Traveller specific service in Ireland. We are an organisation of Traveller and non-Traveller people working together to provide services to Traveller families, and Traveller young people and children and Traveller men and women, many of whom are in crisis. We pride ourselves in working with some of the most marginalised members of the Traveller community. 

We are a multi-disciplinary service provider offering Family Support and Crisis Intervention Services, Children and Young Peoples’ Services, Addiction Services, Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Services and Education and Training Services to members of the Traveller community in the Dublin area. We also deliver various national services through training, provision of expertise and partnerships with other organisations providing services to Travellers in Ireland.

Local Training Initiative Assistant Co-ordinator

Job Description

Working as part of the Education Services team to assist in developing, co-ordinating and implementing a City of Dublin Education and Training Board (CDETB) Local Training Initiative (LTI) to meet the adult education needs of Travellers. The aim of the programme is to provide the learners with the opportunity to engage in a range of adult basic education courses and to identify progression routes into further training, education or employment options available.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the LTI Co-ordinator in the recruitment of learners to the LTITo coordinate some of the activities and modules related to the LTIDeliver and evaluate modules for the LTITo assist in the provision of ongoing support to learnersOrganise accreditation of the LTI modules where appropriate with Co-ordinatorTogether with manager and Co-ordinator supervise tutorsAttend regular meetings with Co-ordinator to develop ongoing work plansAttend regular staff meetings with Manager of ServiceAssist with the evaluation of learner’s progress with regular group and individual evaluationsAssist the coordinator to facilitate progressionAssist in monitoring and evaluating the programmeKeep and maintain project records and assist in programme development and applicationsPlan future programmesAssist in monthly budgeting and progress reportsAssist with the coordination of CDETB Learner registration and terminationsKeeping up to date and complying with CDETB Training Standards SystemApply for funding to appropriate agenciesRepresent Exchange House Ireland on relevant committees 

Person Specification

A relevant qualification and experience in-line with the ETB’s Trainer Criteria (TQAS-8b-F17)Experience of delivering QQI Level 4 programmesAn awareness of the issues facing the Traveller communityExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsCo-ordinational and administrative skillsIT skillsBe capable of working on their own initiative

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time position - 35 hours per week, based on annual contract.Based in Exchange House Ireland’s offices on Great Strand Street, Dublin 1, D01 WC97Salary for this position is set by the ETB, and is €31,289/y.
