The Role


We are looking for a Data Platform Engineer to manage and optimise our data infrastructure, ensuring seamless database performance, cost efficiency, and data accessibility across our organisation. This role is pivotal in supporting our development, integration, and accounts teams with critical data insights, automated reporting, and performance enhancements.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage and optimise multiple databases, including Postgres, Redis, OpenSearch, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
  • Handle database migrations, query optimisation, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Build ad hoc and automated reports using tools such as Grafana and N8N.
  • Oversee database integrations with third-party tools like Microsoft PowerBI.
  • Collaborate with the Accounts team to support billing data management and pricing insights.
  • Ensure the accuracy of patient lists in live environments.
  • Provide test data for the integration team and mock data for developers.
  • Investigate and resolve customer data issues, particularly those related to HL7 standards.
  • Empower developers to create self-service reports for customers.


Key Skills & Competencies
  • Strong understanding of database architecture and management, particularly in Postgres, Redis, OpenSearch, MongoDB, and DynamoDB.
  • Expertise in query optimisation, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Grafana, N8N) and data visualisation.
  • Ability to integrate databases with external platforms like PowerBI.
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting billing data, pricing logic, and customer queries.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across development, integration, and accounts teams.


Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in database administration, optimisation, and management.
  • Experience with schema design, migrations, and index management.
  • Familiarity with HL7 standards and healthcare data integration (preferred).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience working in cross-functional teams.


Reporting & Collaboration


This role reports to the Software Engineering Manager and works closely with the Development, Integration, and Accounts teams, ensuring smooth database operations and data-driven decision-making.


Onboarding Process


  • First 30 Days:
  • Get familiar with T-Pro's data infrastructure and key processes.
  • Shadow team members to understand current challenges.
  • Begin optimising queries and database indexing.
  • 30-60 Days:
  • Take ownership of reporting automation and routine database management.
  • Start integrating with key teams for billing data support.
  • 60-90 Days:
  • Assume full responsibility for database management, optimisations, and integrations.
  • Implement a long-term data management strategy.
  • Deliver measurable improvements (e.g., faster queries, enhanced reporting).
