Job Overview: B2 Communications is seeking a skilled and motivated Mobile Service/Installation Technician to join our team.
The primary responsibility will be the installation of cables and modification of existing bus wiring systems in preparation for the next generation of ticketing and AVL (Automatic Vehicle Location) equipment.
This role will be primarily based in the Dublin area, focusing on Dublin Bus and Go Ahead depots, with occasional work required at Bus ireann depots across the country.
In addition to installation work, the successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day warranty repairs and maintenance of various systems, including CCTV, doors, ramps, destination signs, and ticketing/AVL equipment across Dublin Bus, Go Ahead, and Bus ireann fleets.
Key Responsibilities: Installation and Wiring: Perform the installation of new cables and modify existing bus wiring to support the implementation of advanced ticketing and AVL systems.
Ensure all installations meet industry standards and company guidelines for safety and efficiency.
Conduct thorough testing and quality checks post-installation to ensure systems are fully operational.
Warranty Repairs and Maintenance: Diagnose and repair faults in CCTV systems, automatic doors, ramps, destination signs, and ticketing/AVL equipment on buses.
Manage day-to-day warranty repair requests, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
Maintain accurate records of all repairs and installations, including parts used and time spent on each job.
Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with depot staff and management to schedule installations and repairs, minimizing disruption to fleet operations.
Provide technical support and advice to clients as needed, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Travel and Flexibility: While the role is primarily based in Dublin, the technician must be willing to travel to Bus ireann depots outside of Dublin as required.
Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet client demands and project deadlines.
Required Qualifications and Skills: Technical Expertise: Electrical experience is preferred.
Proven experience in cable installation, wiring modification, and maintenance of automotive electrical systems.
Familiarity with bus or heavy vehicle electrical systems is highly desirable.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong diagnostic skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical and electronic faults.
Ability to work independently and make informed decisions on-site.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with clients and team members.
Ability to document work accurately and maintain clear service records.
Flexibility and Mobility: Willingness to travel as needed, with a primary focus on the Dublin area but with occasional trips to other parts of Ireland.
Valid drivers license is essential.
Desirable Qualifications: Previous experience working with AVL and ticketing systems.
Certifications in electrical installations or related disciplines.
Experience in a similar role within the transportation or automotive industry.
