Kerry Parents and Friends Association was established in 1973 as a support to families of people with an intellectual disability.
The Association provides community-based Day, Residential, and Support Services for more than 250.
Skills and AttributesQQI Level 5 in Healthcare SupportExperience of working in a care delivery capacity within a disability service is desirable.DescriptionWE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR THE FOLLOWING POSITIONS Post: Support Workers x 2 posts Contract: Permanent, Part-Time hours per week) Location: Valentia Residential Service *Please note, rosters may be subject to change due to the Operational requirements of the Service* Tigh an Oileain is home to five male residents, and we are looking for compassionate and reliable individuals to join our team and provide essential support.
The ideal candidates will work collaboratively with the team to improve the residents' quality of life.
A full drivers licence with access to a road worthy car insured for business purposes is preferred to assist residents with community access, appointments, and leisure activities.

The Role: The Support Worker will play a vital role in empowering individuals by planning and setting meaningful goals that address their unique personal, social, recreational, academic, independent living, community integration, training, and supported employment needs.
In this role, you will actively guide and support individuals to realise their aspirations, helping them to reach identified priorities and achieve greater independence and self sufficiency.
You will also advocate for their inclusion and active participation in the community, ensuring they have access to opportunities that promote social and personal growth.
The Support Worker operates within a person centred framework, prioritising the individual's choices and needs.
You will work closely with both internal and external services, fostering a culture of collaboration and partnership, and building strong relationships with families to ensure holistic support that truly benefits the individual.
Alongside supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, the Support Worker will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, completing relevant reports, and ensuring that all documentation meets required standards.
The role includes providing physical support, such as assisting with personal care, emotional and psychological support, as well as healthcare management, all while promoting dignity, respect, and personal autonomy. In addition to supporting day to day tasks, you will also facilitate the development of life skills through engaging in hobbies, interests, and other activities.
By teaching skills such as budgeting, cooking, communication, and time management, you will help individuals develop the tools they need to live fulfilling, independent lives.
The role will also require you to work alongside a range of healthcare professionals, ensuring that all aspects of an individual's care are met with the highest standards of quality and compassion.
Your input will be essential in creating care plans that are responsive to changing needs, promoting personal growth and well being, and fostering a sense of belonging and achievement within the community.

Minimum RequirementsQQI Level 5 in Healthcare Support.
Equivalent qualifications to Healthcare support will be considered, with a minimum of 1 years relevant experience working with Adults with an Intellectual Disability.Applications will also be considered from candidates who have successfully completed at least 1 year of their Nursing or Social Care degree.A passion for promoting and empowering those you support.An excellent knowledge of the HIQA regulations, Disability Act 2005, Health & Safety Legislation, Data Protection, & GDPR.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage effectively with individuals, families, colleagues, managers, and senior team members.Ability to document and report accurately and professionally.Ability to plan, coordinate, and document daily activities and individualised care plans.Ability to maintain accurate digital records and complete reports in compliance with GDPR.Strong time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities effectively.A deep understanding of rights based and person centred approaches to support and advocacy.Where applicable, applicants must hold a valid Irish work permit.Highly Desirable Criteria: Experience of working in a care delivery capacity, preferably within a disability service.Experience of liaising with statutory and other voluntary agencies.Familiarity with basic IT skills for reporting, record keeping, and communication.A full drivers licence with access to a road worthy car insured for business purposes is desirable.Employee Benefits:
